We are looking for an Administrator for our client in Preston (PR2). They are looking for someone to work alongside the commercial team, assisting with contracts, spreadsheets and general administrative duties.
The business offers a range of industrial electrical services and have been trading as a family run business for 25 years. They currently employ around 30 members of staff and they aim to continue expanding.
This role will be 9am-5pm Monday to Friday on a temporary to permanent basis with a rate of £9.50 per hour, just under £20,000 annually. Will need own transport due location.
Candidates will ideally have;
  • 3 years administration experience
  • Relevant experience within the electrical industry/utilities but not essential
  • Own transport

We are looking for an Electronic Engineer with electronics design experience who can design IoT data capture and monitoring systems for industrial processing of materials used in additive manufacturing.
The role entails:
  • Designing firmware for embedded microcontrollers including analogue and digital sensors, RF radio and RFID tags
  • Circuit design including Schematics and PCB layout in Altium
  • Collaborating with the mechanical design and software design teams
  • Researching compliance and testing requirements, especially EMC and product safety standards
Ideally we're looking for someone with:
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent, with an in-depth understanding of electronics
  • Preferably 1 year or more, past professional experience with a track record of creating embedded systems solutions
  • Good experience of embedded microcontroller programming and related development and testing tools.
  • Excellent PCB design skills with mixed analogue, digital and RF circuits in space constrained and battery powered designs
  • Competent in using Altium Electronic CAD package.
  • Competent in C programming language, knowledge of C# and ability to learn new languages as needed.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical/ Hardware Design Manager for a high technology, award winning, engineering/ manufacturing site in the North West.

Main responsibilities and duties

  1. Develop the justifications for new mechanical and electronic components into deliverable specifications.
  2. Responsible for delivering the mechanical and electronic components
  3. Set the targets for and manage the mechanical and electronic team to ensure such targets are met.
  4. Realisation of complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable hardware solutions.
  5. Documentation of design specifications and implementation details. Lead design reviews. Upholding of hardware design standards and methodologies.
  6. Collaboration with other team members (including both hardware and software engineers) to agree system designs, interfaces and protocols etc.
  7. Development of appropriate test hardware and procedures, both informal and formal, to prove the correct operation of hardware.
  8. Provide support for the hardware and manage component obsolescence throughout its lifecycle.
  9.  Monitoring and reporting of progress of development to immediate supervisor and development team.
  10. Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and practices.
  11. Act as people manager for the Hardware team, including performance management (EDFs, training, catch up plans, timesheet submission etc), absence management, disciplinary and grievances, and any other tasks commensurate with daily people management, including the creation and maintenance of SOPs (where applicable)

Required knowledge and skills

  • Ability to write comprehensive technical design documentation.
  • Excellent hardware troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to support/debug system integration
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable.

Required experience:  

  • Proven experience in handover and management of designs in production.
  • Proven design experience in industry.
  • Innovative thinker and problem solver.
  • Ability to effectively research and solve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with customer representatives from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from junior to the most senior levels whilst displaying a confident, polite and professional demeanour at all times.
  • Ability to work individually and in a team.

Minimum Qualifications/skills (desired):

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering/related subject

You will be working in close collaboration with the mechanical and software development teams and actively contribute ideas. You should have the ability to analyse problems and come up with creative solutions to solve them.

Job Tasks

  • Designing firmware for embedded microcontrollers including analogue and digital sensors, RF radio and RFID tags.
  • Designing firmware to interface to remote database over the internet.
  • Design of test software running on a PC.
  • Circuit design including Schematics and PCB layout in Altium.
  • Hardware bring-up, testing and validation.
  • Providing technical support to subcontract manufacturing.
  • Collaborating with the mechanical design and software design teams.
  • Researching compliance and testing requirements, especially EMC and product safety standards.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent, with an in-depth understanding of electronics.
  • Preferably 5 years or more, past professional experience with a track record of creating embedded systems solutions.
  • Must have a good experience of embedded microcontroller programming and related development and testing tools.
  • Competent in C programming language, knowledge of C# and ability to learn new languages as needed.
  • A good knowledge of HTTP, JSON and online databases is an advantage.
  • Excellent PCB design skills with mixed analogue, digital and RF circuits in space constrained and battery powered designs.
  • Competent in using Altium Electronic CAD package.
  • Experience using hardware diagnostic and test equipment.
  • Experience in design for EMC and RF approvals.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both unsupervised and in a team.
